How to Apply

Complete a resume or application online. When applying online, you do not have to have a resume. You can skip the resume section by clicking continue at the bottom of the screen and it will take you to the employment application.
Applications for Page positions are available at all IMCPL branch locations and should be returned to the branch where employment is desired.
Once a profile has been created in the on-line system, the username and password need to be used whenever applying for an open position. Please do not create multiple profiles.
If a profile needs to be updated, log into the system with your username and password and update the information.

If you are applying for a specific position posted on the Library’s website, all applications/resumes will be reviewed after the posted closing deadline. The Library will contact those applicants that they feel best match the requirements of a position. It is IMCPL’s policy not to consider applications and resumes received after a posted closing deadline.

IMCPL's Hiring Policy

Library Pages: Assist with sorting and re-shelving materials including books and a variety of other activities, which vary, based on location. These individuals must be at least 14 years of age and have completed their freshman year of high school.
Library Assistants: Help patrons by checking materials in and out, taking applications for Library cards, reserving materials that are currently in use, and helping patrons with overdue materials. These individuals must have completed high school or have a G.E.D. and possess basic computer skills.
Public Service Associates: Provide ready reference assistance and various patron services. These individuals must have a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of previous customer service experience.
Public Services Librarians: Select books and other materials for the Library's collections, assist patrons with reference questions and provide programming of interest to the community. Librarians must have a master's degree in library science (MLS).
Team Members: Perform routine cleaning, delivery of boxes and materials and minor maintenance duties in order to ensure a clean and safe environment for patrons, staff and other visitors to assigned Library facilities. These individuals must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Drivers: Assist in transporting materials between Library facilities including some shipping and receiving activities. These individuals must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
