Keystone Avenue (9:30 – 10 a.m.); the College Avenue Branch, 4180 N. College Avenue (10:30 – 11 a.m.); the City Market, 222 E. The beam will be raised and set in place during a ceremonial “Topping Out Event” on Friday, September 30 at 2 p.m. at the Central Library construction site downtown on E. 9th Street between Meridian and Pennsylvania Streets. This will complete the steel erection phase of the library’s construction project. Light refreshments will be served. For those not able to attend any of the previous signing events, the beam will be available for signing prior to the “Topping Out Event” on September 30 from 1:30 – 1:50 p.m. The final placement of steel represents a major milestone in the Central Library transformation project. Concrete pours for each floor of the 190-thousand-square-foot tower will be completed by the end of the year, while steel construction on the 12-thousand-square-foot Atrium that links the new tower with the existing 1917 Cret Building will be completed this winter.
