2006 Summer Reading Program Winners

A total of 58,007 children and families participated in the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library's 2006 Summer Reading Program, "Lost in a Book," a tropical island adventure into reading in which participants earned points to be exchanged for a variety of prizes as a reward for their reading activity.

The total represented a 1% increase over 2005 participation.

The program culminated in a celebration of reading achievement at Library Night at Victory Field on Tuesday, August 1, during which the winner of a dream "beach retreat" bedroom makeover, courtesy of Today's Bedroom One, was announced. Seven-year-old Hannah Nilsson, who participated in the Summer Reading Program at the Franklin Road Branch, received new furniture and surfer linens.

Also announced were individual winners from each IMCPL branch who received bedroom reading lamps, courtesy of Today's Bedroom One. These winners, along with each branch's total Summer Reading Program participation, included:

IMCPL's Summer Reading Program, which celebrated its 87th year, was sponsored by the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Foundation.
