William Forsyth, Hoosier Artist: A Panel Discussion

The life and work of Indiana artist William J. Forsyth and his importance to Irvington will be explored by a panel of local arts experts. Forsyth (1854-1935) was an award-winning member of the Hoosier Group and a resident of Irvington beginning in 1906. He is known for his artistic versatility as well as his volatile personality. His work is currently being celebrated at the Indiana State Museum with the exhibit, "William Forsyth: Only the Strong Persist." Panelists include Rachel Berenson Perry, former Museum fine arts curator and author of the new biography, "William J. Forsyth: The Life and Work of an Indiana Artist;" Mark Ruschman, current Museum fine arts curator and owner/operator of the Ruschman Gallery; and Rita Spalding, Irvington artist who recently completed painting a signal box at Washington Street and Emerson Avenue that honors Forsyth. Books will be available courtesy of Bookmamas.
