As part of The Big Read, during which Indianapolis residents are encouraged to read "The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears" by Ethiopian-American author Dinaw Mengestu, adults are invited to discuss the themes of the book during this program led by expert discussion guides from the Indiana Writers Center. Free copies of the book will be available at all book discussion locations for book groups who would like to discuss this chosen novel.

Patrons are invited to learn how to select and use eReaders, as well as search and download materials from the Library's extensive collection of eBooks, audiobooks and digital music. Patrons can drop in anytime during this two-hour visit by the Library's traveling eBook Tinker Station, which is staffed by an eReader expert who can answer questions about the equipment and collection. The Station provides reliable and unbiased information about this growing technology. The Tinker Helpline is also available to call for answers to your questions at 275-4500. This service is made possible by The Indianapolis Foundation Library Fund and Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.



Shake, Rattle and Roll: Baby Music Class

Registration Required

Babies up to age 2 and an adult are invited for an interactive program with music, action songs and movement. Instruments such as maracas, bells, hand drums and gathering drums will be used, as well as colorful scarves for visual tracking and movement. The goal of the program is to use rhythm, music and movement to create a caring, connected rhythmic community. The program requires the participation of the caregiver. No older siblings, please. This program is made possible by Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

Satisfy your need for speed during this series featuring historic Indianapolis 500 highlight films, some not shown in years. See the great cars and drivers in these films, typically 25-30 minutes in length, that present a time capsule of the month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The theme of this evening's films is "Bob Clidinst Tribute Night." Bob worked in the IMS Media Center from 1968-2013 and attended the race each year from 1946-2013. Bob's favorite races are represented by "The Crucible of Speed" (1946), "Speedway Sound Of The Sixties" (1960), and "Run Fast Run All Day" (1971).
