AFROLATINO: An Indy Jazz Fest Performance at Central Library

As part of Indy Jazz Fest 2013, families and individuals of all ages are invited to an afternoon of traditional African and Afro-Latino instruments and rhythms. This free performance will feature 2013 Chicago Music Awards nominee Pavel along with the high energy Latin jazz group Direct Contact. They will team up with Sancocho, an ensemble of drummers and dancers who present music and dance traditions from the African diaspora that are Spanish-speaking yet have strong African cultural retentions, such as Rumba and Bailes Orishas from Cuba and Bomba from Puerto Rico. Come experience the flavors and unheard rhythms of an untold culture. This free performance, presented by IndyGo, will be held in the Clowes Auditorium at Central Library.
