Celebrate BRAZIL Opening Reception & Exhibit

Individuals of all ages are invited to the opening event of this year's celebration of the city's Sister City relationship with Campinas, Brazil. The opening reception at 6 p.m. will feature Brazilian music and food and will be held in Central Library's Riley Room. At 7 p.m. in Central Library's Atrium, local representatives will provide welcoming remarks followed by a performance of Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art that combines acrobatics and dance with music. In addition, there will be performances by pianist Paulo Castro and dancer Raquel Ward. The event also kicks off a Central Library exhibit on the art, food, music, literature, sport and culture of Brazil. The exhibit continues through May 23. This program is presented in cooperation with the Campinas, Brazil Sister City Committee and the Office of International & Cultural Affairs - City of Indianapolis.
