USING YOUR LIBRARYSelf-Service at IMCPLGiving customers another way to help themselves with routine services allows the library's circulation staff the time to deal with more complex customer interactions, work on service enhancements, and continue to offer high quality service to all customers in an increasing population. Self-Service HoldsMany library branches provide patrons the ability to pick up their own holds in designated self-service holds areas. The result is less time standing in line waiting to check out. DVDs will still be retrieved by a staff member. Self-Check StationsThe self check-out service handled 31% of items circulated March - May, 2005 at the following locations: Decatur
Franklin Road Glendale Irvington Lawrence Nora Pike Warren Wayne West Indianapolis Self-check stations enhance your library borrowing experience by adding convenience and privacy. IMCPL has begun installing self-check stations in our branch libraries and invites you to come try it. It's quick, easy, and convenient!
All circulating materials will check out on the machines. This includes: books, books on tape and/or CD, magazines, videos, DVDs, and music CDs. Self-check stations are conveniently placed at the circulation desk so that a staff member is available at all times for assistance. No matter what the success of the self-check out station, the convenience will not replace the need for library staff. *A card in good standing must be current, with no fines or overdue items. The self-check machines will not work with blocked cards due to excessive fines or lost books. Staff members are always on hand to assist patrons with such temporary service needs. |
